A Quick Lesson

Sorry for not posting this yesterday, I need to get into the swing of things. I'm enjoying work with Joe on this project so far. I see that Joey’s post explains our idea so I wont touch on that too much. Our first day went well and was productive. We watched a few films we’ll be talking about how their structure allows the audience to learn and still be captivated. We will be meeting with Mr. Kwait tomorrow to talk about what we should be looking for in these films that we are reviewing. In addition we will talk about what kind of structure will be utilized in our film, what type of organization we will do, what angles and perspectives can be used, etc. After tomorrows meeting I believe we should have all the tools we will need to figure out how to make ours. The thing I learned very quickly was that making a documentary of significance is not simply filming stuff and throwing it together in an edit. We have to make it seem as if the audience is reading a book, and we are the authors. We have to tell a compelling story and we want to take everyone along with us as we learn these things ourselves. Easier said than done.

  2. It seems like you have learned a lot so far about how to make a documentary! Thats great that you learned it takes more than just filming something and simply editing it. I can't wait to see the documentary you create!
