Preparation

Marshall and I have spent the past 3 days working on reCYCLE, Marshall's entrepreneurial venture. First we emailed Eric, our sponsor to update him on our work on reCYCLE. Marshall has a partnership with him so we wanted him to be caught up in the process. We also discussed some details for our project in New York with him at his company, Swerve Fitness. He updated us on some details such as our dress code and what types of activities/jobs we will be helping with. We even found out that we will be able to participate in his spinning classes so we can better understand the company.

After talking to Eric, we spent most of this week trying to make progress on reCYCLE. We visited the room that will be used for reCYCLE. There are already 4 spinning bikes in it and the correct flooring has been installed. I was so excited to see all of it starting to come together. We spent some time organizing the bikes around to figure out the best way for the room to be set up. We are hoping to purchase 4 more bikes for the class but for now it will be set up for 4. We also decided where we will place the TV that will play the Swerve Fitness DVDs during the classes. We are hoping to work on ways to decorate the room with cool lights, logos and inspirational posters. We are currently working on the logo that will represent Hawken reCYCLE. The next step will be finding the generators to connect to the bikes and power the room. There are very few companies that sell these generators and they are very expensive so we are trying to explore our options. But, reCYCLE has made great progress and is on the path to success.

  1. Hi Amanda,
Great first post! I'm glad you and Marshall had those few extra days to work on the reCYCLE project and to get ready for your trip to work in NY. Be safe and keep us posted. Have a great project!
