Consistency

I’m a junior in high school, and I make a commute everyday into downtown Cleveland. I start work at a certain time, take my lunch at a certain time, and leave at a certain time. I figured, eventually, I would be living a lifestyle where a professional, individual work schedule was a consistent part of it. But, I never thought it would happen this early. With that said, I love this lifestyle (regardless of the fact that it will only last three weeks). I love the consistent, serious, professional feel of going into work every day. I think that this is something that I’m definitely getting used to and I’m looking forward to this being a part of my adulthood.

Some may consider it boring or repetitive or miserable but I just love the professional feel of going to work and doing work. With the company I decided to work for, I’m doing something new every day anyways. Every day is a new day but they always follow the same schedule and they always have me coming in at the same time.

I don't think that I'm a boring person. I don’t necessarily like repetitive activities. But, I like organization and I like consistency. I value creativity but in order to survive in this world, it has to stick to some sort of schedule. I like the schedule I stick to with this internship and I’m happy that it gives me a chance to filter my creativity and ideas in a professional way rather than an educational way.

  1. That is such a great observation of yourself, Corey. It can take years for people to realize how best they work and what environment brings out the best in them. And consistency and a routine are not boring. They can, in fact, allow one the structure and stability to be productive and balanced. Great entry!
