Spinning to the finish line?

The first three days of my senior project have been rather productive. Although Amanda and I will not officially start working at Swerve Fitness in New York City until Monday, we have kept ourselves busy here in Cleveland.

We touched base with our Sponsor (also CEO of Swerve), Eric Posner on Wednesday through email. In doing this, we were able to confirm logistical details and were briefed with other preparatory information for our trip.

As planned, Amanda and I have dedicated the majority of our time (past three days) to reCYCLE, my entrepreneurial venture.[1] At this point, I am soliciting people to donate to reCYCLE. Amanda and I calculated the total cost (that need to be funded) of the generator purchase and installation for 6 bikes vs. 8 bikes. We calculated this number through the information provided by PPG, the company from which I will most likely purchase the generators.

Next we contacted Gyre 9, a company that is affiliated with Green Revolution (another potential generator company of interest), and learned that Green Rev. has gone out of business. This was not the best news.

Amanda and I drove to Hawken on Thursday to see the reCYCLE studio.  The flooring was just installed and the bikes have been transferred from storage to the studio. We repositioned the bikes and collected measurements.

Upon returning, I contacted the development department to inquire about tax deductibles, as I have my first bill to pay!

These first few days have been really exciting, as I have been able to see things come together for reCYCLE. Moreover, I am really glad to have had this time to devote solely to reCYCLE. More to come.

[1]For the past year and a half, I have been building reCYCLE, a program that will soon be packaged and sold to other schools. My affiliation with Swerve actually started with reCYCLE, as Swerve is a partner.
